Website Manifesto

While it may be cliche if you look at other site's manifestos, my goal with this website is to make a corner of the web for myself that is completely my own. I like making art and creations of various kinds but have always struggled with sharing it over the internet due to how social media sites incentivizing trying to get as many likes, comments, and followers as possible. Whenever I have tried to share my art on social media I have gotten bogged down and stressed out about how well it's doing, my follower growth, and other such things. Since I don't plan on making art professionally and purely want to make it for the enjoyment of the activity, this is my solution! I want this website to be an archive of my creations, thoughts, and ideas. I would obviously be very happy if people found my art and enjoyed it, but having my own personal satisfaction being the most important makes making art much more fun and easy for me. I want my creations to come from a place of personal joy and satisfaction first, and social enjoyment second.

Like many other's I also do not enjoy the way most social media sites work at this point. The only social media I still actively use is Tumblr, due to it keeping a format I can work with for many years, but even that website has begun to engage in the tiktokification that the likes of twitter and Instagram have been doing for years. I also find that many sites are extremely addicting for me (TikTok and Instagram Reels being a main example) where I sink time into mindlessly scrolling and come out of that scrolling feeling like I wasted large amounts of time without retaining anything at all.

All in all this websites function is twofold: an archive of my creative endeavors and an escape from the growing pit of attention of social media!
